STRATACACHE ActiVia for Media Drives Digital Signage Network in AT&T Experience Stores
AT&T Experience Stores Recognized as ISP/VM+SD Store Design Competition Winner
February 18, 2008- AT&T's Experience Store in Houston has been awarded with a 2007 Institute of Store Planners/VM+SD International Store Design Competition Award. The store's digital signage elements, powered by STRATACACHE's ActiVia for Media digital signage solution, bring AT&T's "store of the future" concept to life and reflect retailers' growing inclusion of digital media as a central design element in their stores.
AT&T's digital signage initiatives began in March of 2007 with the launch of its Experience Store in Houston, which was the result of AT&T's need to re-brand the Cingular retail stores while unveiling a new way to shop for an array of communications and entertainment services.
The Experience Store, utilizing a digital signage network powered by ActiVia, came to life through guided selling kiosks (GSKs) that drive content onto 32" flat screen displays. The AT&T Experience Store houses ten zones “delineated with signage and ceiling/flooring cues,” each with one or two digital signs displaying content ranging from games and ringtones to mobile productivity.
The GSKs include a 19" touchscreen self-service device with the 32" mounted digital sign hanging behind. In addition, three 52" displays located in the central part of the store highlight new AT&T media offerings.
After implementing digital signage for its first Experience Store located in Houston, Texas, AT&T decided to use the same marketing strategy to spearhead its launch of the summer’s hottest tech product. The combination of both projects’ digital signage won a 2008 DIGI Award for the best digital signage rollout in a national retail campaign.
